Lemon Myrtle is believed to purify the air and to boost the immune system. It is highly antibacterial and available here in a blend with our highly-therapeutic, specially-formulated diffusion base consisting of Micromel ® and Nerolidol.

In addition to the many attributes of Lemon Myrtle alone, our powerful base formula contains additional therapeutic properties:

• Micromel – Stringent, anti-fungal, anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-parasitic benefits allow this element of our diffusion base to work in strengthening the immune system as well. Melaleuca is also associated with skin care in working against acne, ring worm, athlete’s foot and warts. Diffusions can penetrate the system and have even been recently found to work with Candida albicans.
• Nerolidol – Also extracted from members of the Melaleuca family, these bring even more of the microbial and antiseptic attributes to this blend.

Lemonlift Uses

There is anecdotal evidence of reduced incidence of coughs, colds and sinus symptoms in households that regularly diffuse Lemon Myrtle. Its antimicrobial action and lemony fragrance make it a must for the winter months.

When diluted in a base oil use in a <0.5% concentration for “rinse off” formulations and <0.05% concentration for “leave on” formulations. Lemonlift is a skin irritant so should not be used in concentrations of >1% and never neat. For sensitive skin use only 2 drops in one ounce of carrier oil.

Topically, Lemonlift is beneficial for: acne and oily skin; bronchitis; herpes simplex; gastrointestinal disorders including indigestion; refreshing, deodorising and purification of the skin.

More Lemony than Lemon

Lemon essential oil is produced by cold-pressing of the fruit peel and contains approximately 3-10% citral, the chemical that gives it its lemony scent.

Lemon Myrtle essential oil is 95% citral. No other known plant contains as much citral and it is this chemical composition that makes Lemon Myrtle so powerful against germs, microbes and viruses.

Research has shown it to have the best killing power against Staphyloccus aureus, Salmonella typhi and Mycobacterium phlei of 49 Australian essentials oils including Eucalyptus and Tea Tree. Hence, Lemon Myrtle is considerably more effective against a broad range of micro-organisms than Tea Tree.
